Minn Kota Sacrificial Anode
Keeping the corrosion at bay is an ongoing job especially when you are using your trolling motor in saltwater.
Putting any two dissimilar metals in saltwater is the main cause of corrosion, the saltwater causes a galvanic effect which essentially means that the two metals will eat each other.
Minn Kota prepare their motor for this by ensuring the electrical qualities of the different parts are quite close, this helps keep the galvanic effect down.
Add to this the Minn kota sacrificial anode and it is another weapon in the fight against corrosion. These balanced parts help keep the saltwater at bay and when they have done their job it is simple to replace them.
Two anodes are available the MKP 30 and the MKP 31. The MKP-30 fits 3-1/4 and 3-5/8 units and the MKP-31 is for 4 inch units and the E-Drive series.
